Yellow Lab Male Needs a Home and Training.

12-2-09 Coco is a 4 year old male Labrador at the Mat-Su Shelter. He is very energetic, sure of himself and outgoing. He needs training  to understand boundries, jumping up, taking objects and food from your hand. He was enthusastic about retrieving a tennis ball. His energy seems boundless but as you can see he sat nicely for a treat

(Note: my palm was open!)

Lost on the Alaska Highway, Sharky finds his family

with some help from Above and persistance.

“Praise the Lord.”

August 21, 2009- Maybe there is something to this prayer stuff when it comes to dogs. The idea that a dog just got loose in this remote area didn’t seem likely but neither did the idea that someone would dump a cutie like this little guy. “ I asked the Lord to help me find the dog’s owners and He did”, KathyOlding said.

Miraculously, in the divine sense, "Sharky" aka "Little Bastard" as he is lovingly referred too, found his owners. The couple who own Sharky drive a semi-truck and were in process of hauling a load of fish from Alaska to the lower 48. They stopped at mile 55 (from the Canadian Boarder), let the dog out to stretch and go potty. True to his nickname he slipped his harness and bolted. They waited a couple hours but he did not return. Because it was out in the middle of nowhere they had lost hope of him finding him and a semi truck full of fish cannot wait. With broken hearts they continued on their journey but not before they contacted the State Troopers to report the lost dog.  Kathy Oldham put an announcement on the Glennallen Radio Station and also asked them if they would please alert the Troopers there in case anyone called them and they said they would.

A woman who knew the owners was listening to the radio station and heard of Sharky's location. She called the couple's son who lives in Homer and he called Kathy, describingthe dog in great detail to confirm it was the same “LB”. He will drive to Tok to pick up the dog this weekend the owners are in the lower 48 for the next few weeks but relieved their dog was found alive and well.

Sharky was found at Mile 60 of the Alaska Highway and had traveled 5 miles on those tiny little legs until he was found earlier this week. He has stayed with Kathy Olding for the last few days in Tok. I am sorry for the cynical assumption I made that his owners had dumped Sharky, that I brushed away the idea that praying would help at all,  and I think I have an appointment to do some atoning this Sunday morning.

Morgain finds a home!

July 22.2008

Read about it in the September Alaska Dog News PDF

Morgan was born in Colorado. In 2005 sprint musher Heather was called to see if she would take him.  She took him and another dog who has since been re-homed. Neither dog had an interest to race. Morgan has lived with their team and 6 house dogs for the last year. 2 year old Morgan is Saluki X pointer/Alaskan Husky. He is about 23 inches at the shoulder, slender and healthy. He has excellent house manners and he is gentle with all creatures canine, feline, and human. Heather can keep him until he finds a home of his own where he can get more attention and be a companion.
His Saluki-ness is evident in his regal walk, lounging posture and steady gaze.
I bet he'd be a fun courser.
Though shy, he warmed up to me and let me pet him.

That’s when I took most of these photos.  http://hjpointers.web.officelive.com/default.aspx

Daisy finds her brother?

Good News! Harley found a new home!

                                   Sister and Brother Reunion ?

Daisy- " Is that you?"

Harley- "Ahhh, ...yes is that you?

Daisy - "Where have you been?

Harley- "First where the big buidings are, Remember? then in a couple other places, I've only been here since the snow, how about you"

Daisy- Back to the kennel 3 times but now a really good place. I sleep on the bed, the couch, chase a cat, fool the dumb Labradors. It's really good."

Harley- "Lucky you, you were always the pushy one and got your way"

Daisy- "Oh get over it, I don't carry baggage from those days. So,you like orange too?"

Harley- "Yes, its been my favorite for months, has my name on it, see"

Daisy- "Do you like your new home? "

Harley- "Yes but there isn't enough time for me..with the new baby and all. Say, nice coat.  I'm cold. I'm going in to play with my small human "

 Daisy- "See you again?"

Harley- "Hope so"

They got along like old friends if not siblings.
